MSU choir members take the stage in London for collaborative performance

STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥擲ixteen members of 花秀直播 State鈥檚 choral program are traveling to London next month for a collaborative performance and cultural learning opportunities.
The choir members take the stage at Cadogan Hall June 8 to perform 鈥淢issa Deus Nobiscum,鈥 by British composer Philip Stopford, in collaboration with London鈥檚 Surbiton High School. Featuring combined choirs, a soprano soloist and an orchestra, the concert is conducted by Phillip Stockton, assistant teaching professor and associate director of MSU鈥檚 choral activities.
鈥淲e are looking forward to the collaboration for the performance, as well as the many cultural experiences we will have during our time in London,鈥 Stockton said. 鈥淎s always, we are thankful to our administration, Dean Teresa Jayroe and Department Head Daniel Stevens for their support in this endeavor as we Hail State from across 鈥榯he pond!鈥欌
In addition to performing, the MSU students will explore cultural sites and take a day trip to Cambridge, where they will attend an Evensong service at the famous King鈥檚 College of Cambridge.
The participants are music and non-music majors representing MSU鈥檚 four choirs of Cantar茅, OPUS, Schola Cantorum and State Singers. The choral activities are housed in MSU鈥檚 state-of-the-art Music Building, a $21 million facility equipped with sound-proof practice rooms, a high-tech recording studio, an acoustically advanced lecture-recital hall, more $3.5 million worth of Steinway pianos and more. Their upcoming performance is part of , an organization that provides concert opportunities to choirs around the world.
